It was a truly unforgettable day as three incredible children received their life-changing Hero Arms, marking the culmination of an inspiring fundraising journey and the generosity of a wider community.
Together, the children and families raised an amazing £20,000, showing determination and teamwork. The remaining £40,000 needed to make their bionic arms a reality was generously supported by a range of donors and sponsors, including anonymous contributors, The Worshipful Company of Glovers, NatWest, and the Open Bionics Foundation.
Delivery day was filled with excitement from start to finish. Each child spent dedicated time with the Open Bionics prosthetist, carefully unboxing their Hero Arm before trying it on for the very first time. These powerful moments—seeing the arms come to life and watching the children begin to explore their new abilities—were both emotional and inspiring for everyone involved.
The celebrations didn’t stop there. A joyful cake smash added to the fun, alongside plenty of photo opportunities capturing big smiles and proud families. The occasion also attracted media attention, with each family interviewed by ITV and BBC, helping to share their remarkable stories with a wider audience.
To round off the day, families were given an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the production area, offering a fascinating insight into how the bionic arms are made and maintained.
