Dan

I’m Daniel Melville, I was born with a congenital condition which meant that I wasn’t born with my right hand. I’m a proud Open Bionics Hero Arm user.

I’ve been involved with Open Bionics since the day they launched, and I was lucky enough to be the first to be given the hero arm. Starting as a tester and then becoming a fully-fledged representative.

Over the years I’ve done some incredible things with Open Bionics and I count myself incredibly lucky for the experiences I have had the privilege to be able to take part in then and see Open Bionics reach grow across the world.

When I was asked to join the foundation, I was over the moon. For me helping others acquire hero arms is an absolute pleasure and joy to be part of. Knowing that others are getting to experience the Hero Arm like I did when I first wore it makes me feel a huge sense of pride and accomplishment.

Away from the Foundation I run a small 3D printing business whilst also working as a technician at a school. I have two beautiful yet mischievous cats, I’m a gamer, I love reading a silly amount of comic books and I love designing.

Kathy

My name is Kathy and I am excited to have joined the volunteer team as a Trustee at the OBF.

Hearing about Open Bionics from my long-time friend, Sarah Lockey -Customer Success Officer at Open Bionics and through seeing the Hero Arm in action with Tilly Lockey, I was keen to put my skills to use within the Open Bionics Foundation charity.

I enjoy using social media and networking with businesses so I hope this will create engagement and generate ongoing donations.

I am looking forward to help with providing Hero Arms for our funding applicants.

Linzi
I’m Linzi, and my journey with The Open Bionics Foundation began while supporting their financial management through my role as a Chartered Accountant at GS Verde Tax & Accountants. In 2025, I was honoured to be appointed as a Trustee, where I bring a deep commitment to helping make advanced prosthetic technology more accessible and life-changing for those who need it most.
Outside of work, I’m a proud mum to two young sons and can often be found pitch-side—either cheering from the stands or shuttling the boys to their football matches. I’m also a keen traveller who enjoys exploring new places with my family, and I’m passionate about creating opportunities that empower others to live fuller, more independent lives.
